Sadly, we did not wake up this morning to discover that Tim Urban's entire time on American Idol was an elaborate April Fools' joke.  But that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of Idol news on this day of pranks and trickery.

Let's have an American Idol news roundup shall we?

Teflon Tim Survives Another Week, Sets Worster Record:

Speaking of He Who Has Impeccable Bangs ... he's the longest lasting Vote for the Worst candidate in the history of American Idol.  Tim has lasted seven weeks on Idol, besting former Worster record holder Sanjaya Malakar. While most of us who value singing on-key and fairness aren't pleased with Tim Urban's  reign of dimpled terror on Idol, Vote for the Worst is proclaiming themselves miracle workers.

Ryan Seacrest Looks An Awful Lot Like Joel McHale:

While Tim Urban might not be an elaborate April Fools' prank, Joel McHale hacking Idol host Ryan Seacrest's Twitter and website is. At 11:11am this morning The Soup host took over Seacrest's Twitter handle and web-site, which resulted in gems like this:

Even Ryan Seacrest's website had a whole new look:

Idol Gives Back:

Names are starting to emerge for this year's Idol Gives Back event. The latest celebs and singers to join the charity show (scheduled for April 21) include Annie Lennox, Jeff Beck, Black Eyed Peas, and Idol winner Carrie Underwood.

Alex Lambert and Idol Back Together Again ... Kind Of:

Last but not least, there's hope for all you crestfallen Alex Lambert fans and petition signers. While Alex's time on Idol is over, he's been given another opportunity by Idol creator Simon Fuller on a new web-series called If I Can Dream. The web-series will follow young hopefuls trying to make it Hollywood, including Alex and Miley Cyrus' ex Justin Gaston. You can watch a now mullet-less Alex 24-7 on the If I Can Dream website or check Hulu every Tuesday morning for new and abridged episodes.

And in case you're wondering what Alex looks like sans mullet ... the answer is super cute:
