Julianne Nicholson extended her acting credentials when she became one of the main cast members of
Ally McBeal. From 2001 to 2002, she portrayed the character Jenny Shaw.
After her stint on
Ally McBeal, Nicholson continued to land television appearances while pursuing movie projects. On television, she guest starred as Dr. Jules Keating on two episodes of
Presidio Med, was cast as Jordan on two episodes of
ER and played the role of Christina Finn on 13 episodes of Conviction. She played supporting roles on movies such as
I’m with Lucy, Little Black Book, Kinsey, Seagull, and landed lead roles in
Seeing Other People as Alice,
Flannel Pajamas as Nicole Reilly and
Her Name is Carla as Carla. She was cast as Megan Wheeler on
Law & Order: Criminal Intent, replacing
Annabella Sciorra as a detective during the show’s sixth season. She portrayed Mike Logan’s second partner during his run with the Major Case Squad. As a result to her real life pregnancy, it was revealed during the end of season six that she was temporarily going to Europe to teach American police procedure to European police officers.
Nicholson is currently part of the movie
Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, in which she plays the lead character Sara. Directed by
The Office star,
John Krasinski, the film follows a graduate student as she deals with her recent breakup by conducting interviews with various men. Also featured in the film are Krasinski, Rashida Jones, Christopher Meloni, Timothy Hutton, Josh Charles, Bobby Cannavale, Will Forte, Dominic Cooper and Lucy Gordon, Max Minghella, Joey Slotnick, and Lou Tayloer Pucci among others.
