Charles Pratt, Jr. has always been a fan of
All My Children executive producer Julie Carruthers and now, he has been given the opportunity to work with her as the soap's new head writer. In just a few short weeks, his new material will begin airing. But for those who can't wait to find out, here's a few hints on what he has to offer for Pine Valley in the coming months.
Warning: May contain spoilers.
As a veteran writer for primetime and daytime television, Charles Pratt, Jr. has a lot of interesting direction to offer on
All My Children starting off with
Fusion, a storyline that many consider as a problem area on the show.
“I think I looked at
Fusion as, not ‘What do we do with
Fusion?' but as an opportunity, as we do with magazine publishing on a show like
Ugly Betty. Without it becoming a business story, you make it Greenlee (Rebecca Budig) vs. Kendall (
Alicia Minshew), rich against poor. I personally was confused with Kendall and Greenlee. When are they friends, when are they not? Best friends have little spats and disagreements, but they also know each other better than anyone in the world. We're going to clarify all of that,” Charles Pratt, Jr. told
Soap Opera Digest.
Meanwhile,
All My Children's new head writer has also something cooking for the men of Pine Valley such as Zach (
Thorsten Kaye) and Ryan (
Cameron Mathison).
“I'm gonna smarten them up and not have them be reactive. I think that will heighten these romances and these triangles, make them clear-cut and put real tension between the people as opposed to things coming from the outside. It'll come from within them and who they are. As I explore them, the audience gets to re-explore them,” he revealed.
Apart from
All My Children, Charles Pratt, Jr. is also credited for his work on
Desperate Housewives, General Hospital, Melrose Place, Santa Barbara, Ugly Betty and
Beverly Hills 90210.
