After making it into the top 3 the other night, Megan couldn’t muster up the courage to overcome her fear of flying, and had to pull herself out of the competition. Megan stopped by BuddyTV yesterday to talk about her experience on the show, what she really thought about Mark, and how she feels about some of the things people are saying about her on the internet.

This is Royce from Buddy TV, and I’m here with Megan from Age of Love. How’s it going, Megan?
I’m doing really well. How are you?
I’m doing great. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us.
So Megan, maybe we can start off by talking a little bit about your background, and how you found yourself on the show Age of Love?
Well, I moved to downtown Chicago probably about three years ago. I was actually out for one of my friend’s birthdays, and I was being the crazy girl, dancing on the tables. One of the casting people from NBC came up to me and they’re like, “Hey, we think you’d be great for this, come interview with us, we really want to talk to you.” And next thing I know, I’m going to California to be on a TV show.
So how much of the TV show, did you know what was going on?
I really had kind of no idea what was happening. I knew it was NBC, they kinda advertised it first as the next eligible Bachelor, so of course I go with it. I found one source, I don’t even remember what it was. It was like, “NBC is coming out with a new summer hit with host Mark Consuelos.” And that’s pretty much all I knew going in.
Were you a fan of shows like The Bachelor?
No, I never really got into The Bachelor. The whole dating reality TV… the only stuff I ever really watched was like, Real World and Road Rules, and stuff on MTV when I was growing up.
What were your first impressions of Mark when you first met him? Did you have any idea that he was this famous tennis star?
My first impression of Mark… Really, I mean, a couple of the girls knew who he was from just watching tennis or playing tennis. But I had no idea who he was, never heard of him before, never saw him before. And the first time that the 20-year-olds met him, he was really shy, kind of nervous. Very reserved, actually, a lot of the girls were like, “Oh my gosh, does he even like us?” He just seemed really not interested at all, but that changed.
So looking back, what do you find most attractive about Mark?
Let’s see, the thing that’s most attractive about Mark is probably… he had a really big heart. He’s very concerned with all of everyone’s feelings. The night after triathlon probably was when I really started to think he was a great guy. The girls that didn’t win the boat date, whatever – which was me (laughter), he got us flowers, and he had a masseuse come to the house, which wasn’t on TV but I just thought that was the sweetest thing ever. He just took it into his own hands and paid for it himself, TV had nothing to do with that, it was great.
Did you have any idea that you were going to make it as far as you did?
You know what? I had no idea that I was gonna be top three or whatever. I felt like I was kind of the girl that wasn’t really falling all over him. I didn’t kiss him until like, barely when I left. It was just like, a quick little peck. I thought for sure that I was gonna be booted after, I think I told him once that there was no initial attraction. As soon as that came out of my mouth I was like, “Uh-oh, well, maybe I’m going home.”
Last night’s episode, you obviously weren’t too comfortable with your high tea one-on-one date. What would you have prefered to do with Mark instead, if it were up to you?
Oh gosh, anything but that. (laughter) Let’s see, I really liked Jen’s motorcycle date. I really would’ve liked to switch with her on that one. It was super awkward, like, it was just him and I. It was very quiet, lots of breakable stuff around us, like little cupcakes and stuff that I had no idea how to eat or anything. It’s just, it was crazy.
If both you and Maria didn’t walk out voluntarily, who do you think Mark would’ve eliminated?
Gosh, you know what, I have no idea. I think probably Maria, because a couple of times she told him, “I’m not really feeling it, I’m just ready to go.” So I think last night might’ve been her night for him to choose her.
Are you really that scared to get on an airplane?
Oh my God, I’m terrified, and it’s the stupidest thing ever. I hate it, it’s like I can’t… I mean, people who have a fear of flying, they know what I’m talking about. But people that don’t are like, “Are you kidding me? It’s just a plane ride! Like come on, get over it.” But yeah, I’m terrified.
Were there certain things that you wish they showed about you on TV, that maybe they didn’t?
Yeah, I definitely can have a very in-depth, smart conversation. I’m not the ditzy 21-year-old young girl that they kind of portrayed. But that’s OK, I guess, because it wasn’t too horrible. I had a couple of people like, on their blogs and stuff, my friends have read them and are like, “Oh my gosh, people are saying that you can’t put sentences together, and how young and naïve you are.” I mean, whatever. The people that know me, know me, and the people that don’t know me, know as the ditzy 21-year-old. That’s OK, (laughter) I definitely have my moments for sure.
Well Megan, in your personal opinion and given your experience being on the show, how big of a factor do you think age is when it comes to love and dating?
I think that age shouldn’t be a factor when it comes to dating and love. A lot of people judge by age, but I mean, if you have a connection and you really can get along with that person and they make you happy, then I think that age is just a number. You shouldn’t be blind to love if it’s there, just because of an age.
We’re down to one Kitten and one Cougar, Amanda and Jen. Who do you think Mark will pick?
Oh my gosh, I have no idea. I have my hopes, but I don’t know.
What are you up to now, Megan?
I actually am starting work again tomorrow. I got in a car accident, so I hadn’t worked in a month. I’m still in school and trying to finish it up, so difficult, especially when you don’t like school. I just want to be in the real world and have a new job. I’m currently opening up a new nightclub tomorrow night, we have our friends and family, little get-together. So I’ve been kinda busy with that.
Nice. Well, that sounds exciting. Any final thoughts about either last night or your experience on the show in general?
Oh, let’s see… I just say good luck to Amanda and Jen, and I’m really, really excited to see the show next week and I’m so excited to see and talk to my girls because I miss them. Other than that, nothing I guess.
