With Tila Tequila being turned down by Kristy on last night's exciting finale of A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, the biggest question on the minds of fans is whether there will be a third season, and if so, whether it will once again feature Tila Tequila.

Given the way both seasons have ended, it's hard to imagine Tila would want to come back. After choosing Bobby Banhart in season 1, the relationship quickly fizzled. Tila went the other way by choosing fellow bisexual Kristy on the season 2 finale, but due to Kristy's own questions about whether she wants a man or a woman, she refused to accept the shot at love. Viewers were left with a crying Tila asking herself what she's doing wrong and why she can't find love.

The answer to both questions is most likely the fact that she's looking for love on a reality show. The success of season 1 made it difficult to determine who was really there for Tila and who was there simply to be on TV and have a good time. As any reality show progresses, the contestants, knowing what they're in for, must be viewed with a more skeptical eye.

Though there is no official word yet on a third season, the success of these first two for MTV will likely mean the network will push for yet another season. The bigger question is whether Tila would return or whether MTV would recruit another bisexual as the star. Answers will undoubtedly come on next week's reunion when Kristy, Bo and Tila meet up to vent their feelings on how everything went down.

If Tila Tequila is genuine about looking for love, these past two seasons may have taught her a valuable lesson: it's better to find it off camera. In the early episodes of season 2, Tila expressed an unwillingness to open up because she was so emotionally hurt by her break-up with Bobby. That was nothing compared to Kristy's rejection on national television.

If Tila does return for a third season, it would be a huge mistake on her part. It would most likely prove that she's not in the show solely for love, but she also enjoys the attention of all the contestants as well as the show's fans. Putting yourself through such an emotionally draining process for a third time would be counter-intuitive.

The best solution for MTV is to change it up and try a third season with even bigger changes. Maybe find a bisexual male and offer up 15 gay guys and 15 straight women, as that would surely make for an entirely different kind of entertainment. Given that that show proudly shatters sexual taboos, perhaps they might even want to explore transgendered dating. Logo already tried a similar idea with Transamerican Love Story, a series in which a male-to-female transsexual picked from a group of men. Maybe a third season of A Shot at Love could include a bisexual female choosing from a crop of straight men, lesbians, male-to-female transsexuals and female-to-male transsexuals. The possibilities are endless when dealing with issues of sexual preference and identity.

The bottom line is that Tila Tequila would be foolish to return for a third season of a show that has left her emotionally crushed and vulnerable twice already. Similarly, MTV would be foolish to let the Shot at Love franchise vanish simply because Tila Tequila isn't around. When A Shot at Love first came out, the premise was shocking and received a lot of attention for daring to explore alternative forms of traditional sexuality. The best way for MTV to regain that shock appeal is to switch things up again, starting with a new star.
