There are few moments in a relationship more nerve-racking then meeting the parents. So imagine the nerves, for all parties involved, when you're bringing home not one girlfriend, but two. This week on
A Double Shot at Love, the Ikki twins, the final four contestants and their families faced this conundrum. And just as one would suspect, many of the trips to meet the parents did not go well.
The first family to be introduced to the Ikki twins, was golden boy
Trevor's. Despite coming across as a mellow California guy, Trevor actually hails from a conservative family in Pennsylvania. So, imagine the shock, when their son walks in with not one but two new girlfriends. While Trevor's parents feign politeness after they pick their jaws up off the floor, they get a bit hot under the collar when the twins bisexuality is mentioned. When Vikki asks Trevor's Mom what she thinks about her son dating bisexual twins, the mouth agape Wendy answers "I think I'll take a drink," before taking a chug of her wine. Later in the home date Trevor's Dad says he believes bisexuality is a moral issue and admits that the Ikki Twins are not the type of girls he had hoped Trevor would end up with. Really Dad? When you imagined your little boy growing up you didn't think, "I hope my boy ends up with a pair of twin bisexual nude models?" But isn't that the American dream?
Happily, the Ikki twins home visit with Rebekah in Tacoma, Washington goes considerably better.
Rebekah's family and friends are super supportive of Rebekah's decision to get to know both Rikki and Vikki, and everyone seems to hit it off. During a game of mini-golf with Rebekah, her sister, best friend and Rebekah's son, sparks continue to fly between Rikki and Rebekah. But during dinner, when her son takes an instant liking to Vikki, Rebekah begins to question if she's been into the wrong Ikki. When Vikki asks Rebekah's sister what she thinks about Rebekah dating bisexual twins, she looks Vikki straight in the eye and says "Oh yeah, you would be very perfect for my sister." Not just perfect folks, very perfect. We see this becoming a problem in the immediate future for the Ikki twins and Rebekah. How awkward would it be if she ended up with Vikki after sucking face with Rikki through the rest of the show? That could certainly make for some awkward family gatherings.
In comparison to the Ikki's happy visit with Rebekah, their hometown visit with
Rosemarie is a disaster. First off, Rosemarie decides the best way to let her Mom know she's bisexual is by bringing home identical twins with a camera crew in tow. Huge mistake number one. Then Rikki decides it would be a really really good idea to have a make-out session with Rosemarie in front of her family. Huge mistake number two. But the biggest mistake of all? Bringing home bisexual twins to meet your full-on butch lesbian cousin, who just wants her cousin to share the twin she's not feeling. When the Ikki twins excuse themselves from the most strained family dinner ever, all hell breaks lose. We can't tell you exactly what the fight was about because most of it was covered up by censor's bleeps, but it became abundantly clear to the Ikki's they wouldn't be a welcome addition to Rosemarie's life.
Last but not least, was a trip to Jersey to meet
Scott's family. Within a few moments it was clear where Scott got his fun-loving nature: his kooky family. Once the kosher wine was flowing, this home visit turned into a big inappropriate love-fest. Similar to
Jersey Jay's family visit with Tila Tequila, Scott's family embraced the Ikki's with open arms...and mouths. While there wasn't any full-on trying to make out with your son's new girlfriends like Jay's family, there were plenty of parental body shots at Scotties house. Scott's sweet Jewish Mom even got into the action, taking a body shot of kosher win from one the Ikki's cleavage. Yowza.
When it came down to elimination time things got heated between Vikki and Rikki. While the tension has been building between the twins over eliminations throughout the season, it reached a boiling point last night. When Vikki was trying to make her case to Rikki, Rikki decided she was having none of it. She declared to her sister that she knew all of the remaining contestants better, so she had no reason to listen to Vikki's opinion. In a moment of frustration and reality TV greatness, Vikki decides she has had enough and pushes Rikki off her chair, on to the floor and storms out of the deliberation room. It wasn't quite the all out cat fight we were hoping for, but it was pretty great. After picking herself up off the floor Rikki realizes the error of her ways and apologizes to Vikki for only thinking of herself.
Yet again, it's clear who'll be going home. Rosemarie and her crazy family baggage is sent packing, while the final three: Trevor, Rebekah, and Scottie are packing their bags to head to Vegas for a Double Shot finale.
