It's Vegas or bust this week on
90210. Austin's dad is throwing
him a birthday party in Las Vegas, so naturally Naomi convinces all of
her friends to go on a road trip so she can ambush him. However, the
trip to Vegas causes romantic strife, life lessons about not playing
poker with
Jersey Shore cast members, and one big, gay, fake wedding that is most definitely NOT staying in Vegas.
Viva Las GaygasTeddy reconnects with Shane, his Barcelona summer fling working with Silver on the campaign for St. Brandy (my pet nickname for Brandy's holier-than-thou character) against Teddy's uncle. They go to Vegas together and have a romantic date, but then Teddy gets depressed for absolutely no reason because he can't envision himself being happily married. It's one of those totally illogical, random plot contrivances that makes no sense for the character, but since it helps propel him into a fake Vegas wedding with Shane, the writers obviously didn't care.
Yes, the big gay wedding of Teddy and Shane isn't for real, it's just so Silver can show Teddy that being gay is OK. And while Shane's vows are sweet, Teddy's vows are all about how awesome his friends are. He doesn't even mention or look at Shane the entire time. Oh yeah, and Silver filmed the whole thing, which is obviously just an excuse for her to accidentally e-mail it to St. Brandy's campaign office so it can be leaked and cause trouble for Teddy's uncle's campaign.
Naomi's Achy, Breaky HeartThe reason Austin didn't ask Naomi to come to his family birthday party in Vegas is that his dad is a country music legend played by Billy Ray Cyrus. So naturally Naomi drags everyone she knows to Vegas, bribes a Marilyn Monroe impersonator for her costume and sneaks into the party as a performer in his birthday show, even though she can't sing at all.
We also learn that Austin's dad is a total jerk. Naomi eventually tells him off (or rather, tells off one of his impersonators), but Austin's dad hears it and is impressed, but Austin isn't so pleased.
Liam the "Celebrity"It turns out after just one billboard of his abs goes up, Liam now qualifies as a "celebrity" who can afford a presidential suite at a Vegas hotel and who gets VIP treatment from everyone. He even makes a new friend in the form of Vinny from
Jersey Shore, who compliments his body and invites him to a VIPs-only poker game. I'm pretty sure that's the stat of a Lifetime original movie about white slavery.
At the game, Liam loses all of his money in about two seconds, but then miraculously wins it back with one hand where he has pocket 8s against pocket aces. Since we don't see the flop, it's impossible to know if it was a bluff.
Annie's Heartbreak HotelAs is always the case, the hotel the gang is staying out just so happens to be hosting some big, fancy conference Annie's boyfriend Patrick is attending. So Annie sneaks up to find him, only to see him making out with another woman. Should she really be so surprised since she met him when she was his escort? Inexplicably, she seems to be OK with him at the end of the episode.
Dixon's New AddictionThere's a lot of talk in the episode about Dixon's former gambling addiction, which is a nice bit of continuity. The only problem is that he's obviously more stressed by his new addiction to ADHD medication. Luckily for him, Adrianna figures it out after talking to Ivy and comes all the way to Vegas to help him. And by help him, I mean help him get his pants off.
Annie catches them, but Dixon confesses to her that he's now addicted to gambling and ADHD medication, but Adrianna was helping him deal with it. I wonder what Dixon will become addicted to next. Maybe pornography.
Navid's Special PackageNavid's uncle asks him to take a special, mysterious package to Vegas and deliver it to someone. His police contact comes all the way from Beverly Hills to help put a wire on him, and she even makes out with him a bit to protect his cover when Silver walks into the room. Because, you know, young, sexy lady cops ALWAYS come to Vegas for a wire sting and make out with their undercover informants. Unfortunately, the package just contains socks because it was a test of Navid's loyalty, which he passed.
