Biography

DB Woodside as Wayne Palmer

David Bryan “DB” Woodside was born on July 25, 1969 in Jamaica, Queens, New York. He was a high school football player, but turned his attention to acting after sustaining a knee injury. In an interview with BBC, Woodside recounted his experience, saying, “I found it (the football injury) too depressing so I began wandering the halls of high school and ventured down into a wing that I'd never really gone down before because I heard music. I happened on a dress-rehearsal for Brigadoon and sat down and lost myself in that world. I don't do musicals but there was something fascinating about exposing myself to an art that I'd never really been involved with.”

He began his television career by portraying Aaron Mosley on the second season of Murder One. When the crime series was cancelled in 1997, Woodside landed guest spots on various television shows, including The Practice , Snoops, The Division and Once and Again. Following those guest appearances, he played Melvin Franklin in the 1998 film The Temptations. Two years later, he landed another big screen role, this time in the action flick Romeo Must Die, where he acted opposite Jet Li and pop artist Aaliyah. He was also seen as FBI Agent Rod Benton on the last season of JAG.

His additional television credits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer (wherein he portrayed the recurring character, Principal Robin Wood) and the hit television crime series, CSI . Currently, he is starring in another hit television drama, 24, where he portrays President Wayne Palmer.
Woodside has also explored the world of stage acting, and made his first appearance in the theater on a production of Romeo and Juliet. He then joined the cast of several other stage productions, namely, A Raisin in the Sun, Le Liasons Dangereuses, The Tempest, Home and Macbeth.

He earned his degree from the University of Albany and then pursued his Master of Fine Arts at the Yale School of Drama. At present, Woodside holds residence in Los Angeles, California.
