James Badge Dale, who has been known for his portrayal of Agent Chase Edmunds in Fox’s drama series,
24, has joined the cast of
The Pacific, a 10-part miniseries set during World War II. Production will be spearheaded by Academy Award winners Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Filming is expected to begin this August in various parts of Australia.
The miniseries, which will serve as a sequel to Spielberg’s critically-acclaimed
Band of Brothers, will be made with a budget of almost $200 million.

Other actors who have been cast in the miniseries are Joseph Mazzello and Val Lauren. All three actors will star as US Marines whose lives intersect in the Pacific at the time of the second World War.
Mazzello, 23, has been cast in the role of Eugene Sledge. Among his most notable film projects are
Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Simon Birch, The Cure, The River Wild and
Matters of Life and Death (for which he is also credited as the director).
Lauren has appeared in many television series, including
Crossing Jordan,
CSI: NY,
24,
Felicity, American Dreams, Criminal Minds, Walker, Texas Ranger and
The Huntress.
29-year-old Dale, who moved to New York in order to train as an actor, made his acting debut on the 1990 film adaptation of
Lord of the Flies, wherein he played the character, Simon. Years later, he appeared in an episode of
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and from there went on to work in more television series, such
Hack,
Rescue Me,
CSI,
CSI: NY,
CSI: Miami and
The Black Donnellys. He also had a minor role in the Academy Award-winning film,
The Departed.
Dale was added to the cast of
24 when the show was on its’ third season. However, when the show returned for its fourth installment, it was mentioned that Dale’s character had left the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) and had been living with Jack Bauer’s (
Kiefer Sutherland) daughter, Kim (
Elisha Cuthbert) until he grew wary of her grief over Jack’s supposed death. His whereabouts are unknown.
