Make that one more name for the cast of the eighth season of
24: former
Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff is jumping into the award-winning action series, which is headed to the Big Apple by January next year.
Her character? Sources told
Entertainment Weekly that she'll play Dana Walsh, a highly respected yet down-to-earth data analyst at the revived CTU's New York branch. The role also has a love interest tied to it--her character will be romantically involved with Davis Cole, CTU's field ops head and Jack Bauer wannabe which will be
(still surprisingly) played by Freddie Prinze Jr.Oh, and like many other
24 characters, she's got a pretty dark secret she doesn't want revealed. You just gave your day to the wrong people, Dana.
Anyway, Sackhoff, who just wrapped up her work on
BSG months ago, almost didn't join the show. Reports said negotiations were in the final stages when she suddenly decided to drop out of the running. Somehow she was convinced to reconsider, because her name was suddenly in the running again over the weekend.
Sackhoff joins a cast that, considering all that happened in the seventh season, is pretty kick-ass. The customary rundown, then: Mykelti Williamson as
new CTU boss Brian Hastings; Jennifer Westfeldt as an ambitious journalist; Chris Diamantoupolous as
the new White House chief of staff; and of course, Anil Kapoor as
a Middle Eastern diplomat.
Now, let me pick up my jaw. That cast's enormity--take note, I still haven't thrown in Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub and the rest in--was just, well...
