The WB may have been ignored by the Emmys when it was still around, but
now they've finally come around, kind of. This year's Emmy nominations
will be announced on Thursday, July 14 by Fringe
star Joshua Jackson and Mike and Molly
's Melissa McCarthy.
Or, as they're better known to WB fans, Pacey from Dawson's Creek
and Sookie from Gilmore Girls
. I suppose it's better late than never.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
Now before Fringe
fans get excited that this might mean the show will finally get some Emmy love, I feel the need to point out that Joel McHale was one of the announcers last year, and Community
didn't get a single nomination.
Still, I'm excited that these two former WB stars and an integral part of my teenage years will be announcing together, if only because there might be some playful Dawson
banter before they read the list of nominees.
While Jackson is not a serious contender in the Emmy race, McCarthy is. She has a successful new show and, as part of the hit film Bridesmaids, there is a lot of love for her right now. If the Emmys decide to rebel against the more dramatic contenders in the race for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (ie Edie Falco, Toni Collette and Laura Linney), McCarthy might sneak in.
Also, I wish instead of Joshua Jackson, Anna Paquin would be there, because then there could be two Sookies on the same stage at the same time. Now that would be cool.(Image courtesy of FOX and CBS)
