Biography

Australian actor Xavier Samuel was born on December 10, 1983 in Hamilton, Victoria. He spent most of his childhood in Adelaide, South Australia and in 2001, graduated from Rostrevor College. Soon, he developed a passion for acting and decided to undertake a drama course. He enrolled at Christian Brothers College under the tutleage of Amanda Portus.

Samuel started out on stage, playing the part of Tom Snout (the wall) in Rostrevor College’s production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream. He followed it up with his portrayal of Belvile in CBC’s production of Aphra Behn’s The Rover (The Banished Cavaliers).

In 2005, he furthered his studies at Flinders University Drama Centre. There he found himself under the tutelage of renowned acting teacher Julie Holledge. On their graduate production, he had the honor of playing the titular role in Hamlet.

While completing his education, Xavier Samuel booked television roles. He debuted on an episode of McLeod's Daughters in 2003. His next project was 2:37 (2006) and more work in theatre. He was seen on Two Weeks with the Queen, a production by Windmill Performing Arts. He was also on Osama the Hero, which was staged at The Old Fitzroy Theatre.

In 2007, Samuel was cast on September, and Griffin Theare's production of Mercury Fur. The next year, he landed roles on Newcastle and the TV movie Dream Life. After roles on the short film Drowning and 2009's The Loved Ones, the actor booked the part of Riley Biers in the third installment of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. This was followed by a role in Road Train, an Australian horror flick.
