William Gilbert is a 23-year-old aspiring music producer from Detroit, Michigan. With his charismatic personality and charming wit, he is said to be a true ladies’ man. He worked as a disc jockey in his hometown of Detroit, performing at weddings, parties, and bar mitzvahs.
Gilbert is part of the newest season of MTV’s reality show, The Real World. It features seven strangers who live in a house for several months while cameras record their every move. The show moves to a different city each season. The Real World: Hollywood is the twentieth and latest installment to this highly successful series. For this season, majority of the cast aspire to work in the entertainment and broadcast industries, precisely the reason why it is set in Hollywood, California. For the first time, the cast will also depend on environmentally friendly amenities, such as a solar-heated swimming pool, bamboo flooring, and energy-efficient lighting, among others.
Along with the other cast members, Gilbert is an intern in this season’s workplace, IO West, a comedy club in Hollywood, which presents sketch and improvisational comedy every night. In Hollywood, his dream is to create beats and dance moves that will showcase his skills both as a dancer and as a DJ, as well as be a successful music producer. According to him, although genres are intertwining in this new era of music evolution, in the end everyone just wants to dance. In this light, he thinks the DJ plays a very important role.
