A guy who has been through it all, Shotta takes life at his own pace. When things come right at him, he takes his time to face them. He has his own blend of experiences, and he uses them to get through the life. He earns more knowledge with every occurrence, no matter how dangerous they may be. Shotta admits to being a hustler, risking his freedom just to have a taste of life. He also found it difficult to hold on to a legitimate job since he transferred homes occasionally.
A native of Brooklyn, Shotta has also revealed that he is an introvert. He isn’t so wild, even though he was once a hustler. He is also known as Durell, and would like to keep that profile low. But joining From G’s to Gents has made him appreciate more things, like the importance of manners and being more open. Before moving into the Gentleman’s Club, Shotta lived on the road – that is, inside his Mercedes. His baller days now past, he strives for a better life.
He has lived everywhere, from Panama to San Diego. He has also lived in New York City, feeding his insatiable thirst for journeys. He thinks highly of his life experiences, and believes that they are his key to turning from a G to a gentleman. With the style changes in the show, Shotta knew he would be gaining more experiences, even tear-jerking ones. The victory he has strived for meant giving up a lot, wearing suits and promising to earn respect as well as give it. Admitting to having a high esteem and love for his mother, Shotta felt very emotional about the transformation. He prefers the change of identity more than the money, and would have to do a lot more to learn the secrets of success.
