Olympic figure skater Alexandra Pauline “Sasha” Cohen was born on October 26, 1984 in Westwood, California. She studied at Alison Niguel High School and graduated as a straight A student from Futures High School. She was just a child when she started studying gymnastics. At the age of seven, she switched to figure skating, and by age ten, she knew that she wanted to make figure skating her career.
In 2000, she won the Junior Grand Prix, Sweden and the Pacific Coast Sectionals. She also finished second place at the U.S. Championships in the same year. From 2002 onwards, she belonged to the top three of many figure skating competitions such as the Cup of Russia, Skate America, Skate Canada, Trophee Eric Bompard, Grand Prix Final, World Junior Championships, World Championships and the Winter Olympic Games.Sasha Cohen
gained prominence as a figure skater, but she has also had the opportunity to flex her acting muscles too. She was seen on CBS' CSI: NY
and on NBC's Las Vegas
. On the big screen, she was cast in Moondance Alexander and Bratz. She appeared as herself in Blades of Glory. She also appeared on Kurt Browning's Gotta Skate and on Holiday Celebration on Ice.
Sasha has modeled in print ads for Citizen Watch, Michelline.com Skaters apparel, Sharene Skatewear, Simply Saline, Got Milk? and for the National Beef Association.
Sasha Cohen was also featured in TV Guide, Sports Illustrated for Women, V Magazine and Seventeen. Her photographs were on the covers of U. Magazine, Skating Magazine, Blades on Ice and International Figure Skating.
Sasha Cohen is a contestant on CBS' reality TV series Secret Talents of the Stars
, a show that pits celebrities against each other as they showcase their hidden abilities. Her hidden talent is performing with the Chinese acrobat troupe New Shanghai Circus.
