Nick Pickard is a British actor born in London, England, and is famed as the longest-serving cast member of the soap opera Hollyoaks. He was well-known as the character Tony Hutchinson, who has had had multiple on-and-off relationships, affairs and engagements with numerous women throughout the series. . He’s also had multiple jobs and entrepreneurial schemes, such as video shop owner, chef, student landlord, and running for councilman. A memorable point was when his attempt to take advantage of a recycling system caused him to drink his own urine, and when his septic tank exploded, causing his house to be condemned by the Environmental Health board. Pickard’s character Tony in Hollyoaks is the only original character still remaining from the show’s 1995 debut.
Pickard’s acting career kicked off with the 1987 fantasy adventure Mio in the Land of Faraway, wherein he starred alongside Christopher Lee and Christian Bale. He has also appeared in You Rang, M’Lord?, Now That It’s Morning, and Brookside: Double Take! He later landed a minor role in EastEnders as a young homeless boy who was burnt to death. In 1995, he appeared in the video for the Mike & The Mechanics hit, “Over My Shoulder.”
Nick Pickard was educated at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, and obtained parts in many productions like Richard II, Enemy of the People and Edward II. He worked extensively in theatre before his time in Hollyoaks, and later on was seen on shows like Us Girls and If You Were Me.
Other than acting, Nick Pickard is a huge fan of sports. In his spare time he plays football and squash, and is a dedicated Chelsea fan. He plays regularly and runs the Mersey TV football team, taking on the roles of gaffer, manager and kitboy. Aside from that, he is the captain of the Hollyoaks Team whenever there are celebrity football matches.
