American actress Nancy Lenehan was born on April 26, 1953 in New York. She has appeared on various television shows ever since the 1980s. One of her first roles was in the 1980 comedy film Smokey and the Bandit II. It starred Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason and Sally Field. After her break into the entertainment industry, she landed a spot on series like Family Ties, Alice, Enos and a segment of The Twilight Zone. She continued to accept small roles during that time, and her credits include The Incredible Shrinking Woman, Jekyll and Hyde…Together Again, Stoogemania and Like Father Like Son. In 1988 she was cast as Cynthia in She’s Having a Baby, starring Alec Baldwin, Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern.

During the 1990s, Nancy Lenehan was cast in series like Murphy Brown and Roseanne, as well as The Golden Girls. She also had a minor role in an episode of Seinfeld, The Nanny, Boy Meets World and 3rd Rock from the Sun. From 1993 to 1998, she had a recurring role as Mrs. Sheffield in Grace Under Fire. Her television roles continued to prosper, and she earned roles in Ellen and The Practice in 1997. The next year, she gained a more prominent role in the film Pleasantville, portraying Marge Jenkins opposite Tobey Maguire, Reese Witherspoon, William H. Macy and Jeff Daniels. She also appeared on notable series like ER, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dharma & Greg and Just Shoot Me! In 2001, she was cast in Judging Amy and Gilmore Girls. She soon followed this up with a role in the acclaimed film Catch Me If You Can, directed by Steven Spielberg. Lenehan was also in Everybody Loves Raymond, What I Like About You, That ‘70s Show and Malcolm in the Middle. After her stint on series, she was cast as a home economics teacher in the 2003 Disney Channel Original Movie Eddie’s Million Dollar Cook-Off. She was also in the film Beauty Shop, starring Queen Latifah, Alicia Silverstone and Mena Suvari. She co-starred in the short-lived series Married to the Kellys, and made even more appearances on Nip/Tuck, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

From 2005 to 2008, she was given a recurring role on the NBC sitcom My Name Is Earl, playing Earl and Randy’s mother. Her next role came in 2008’s CBS series Worst Week, playing the protective mom Angela. When the series ended in 2009, she appeared on the comedy Outsourced before landing the role of Diane in the 2011 CBS comedy How to Be a Gentleman.
