Monty Powell is featured as one of the members of the cast in the Fox network’s reality soap television series Nashville. He has worked for the music industry for almost 25 years, and is a veteran manager, producer and songwriter. Powell’s musical talents have been greatly honed over the span of those two-and-a-half decades, allowing him to rightfully claim his own niche of success. With his songwriting skills, he has had more than 25 hit singles placed on the charts. Powell also co-produced the first three albums of performer Diamond Rio, and was lauded in 1994 when he won a CMA Album of the Year Award, with his production work on “Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles” being given due recognition.
In more recent developments, Powell teamed up together with Levin Nelson Entertainment, which is an artist management firm based in New York. Among the firm’s associates are Luther Vandross and Michael Bolton. Powell was brought in to oversee their work in the world of Nashville music, and one of his first decisions was to sign songwriter and singer Chuck Wicks into a publishing contract together with Levin Nelson’s Dirty Water Dog Music. Apart from his work for Levin Nelson Entertainment, he also presently writes for the Universal Music Publishing Group.
