Michael Wright is a movie and TV actor who was born on April 30, 1961 in New York City. He was married to Mitzie Lau from 1994 to 2000, and they have one child together. Wright has worked on a number of feature films and television productions. Among the shows he has acted in are the NBC science fiction miniseries V, New York Undercover, and Miami Vice. Wright has likewise worked on roles in movies such as Light and the Sufferer, Confessions of a Hitman, The Five Heartbeats, and The Interpreter. He was also involved with the video game Batman: Dark Tomorrow.
Omar White is portayed by Michael Wright in the HBO prison drama television series Oz. He is a drug addict and an African-American who constantly causes trouble, and subsequently often winds up in solitary confinement. The unit’s manager, Tim McManus, thinks that he can help rehabilitate White. As one of the newer inmates, he is manipulated by Ryan O’Reily into attacking others in exchange for a drug fix. White is often at odds with the other prisoners, particularly the Latinos. Even Sister Peter Marie is frustrated enough by his behavior to think that he is irredeemable. White is eventually killed by fellow prisoner Lemuel Idzik.
