Biography

Born Matthew Steven LeBlanc on born July 25, 1967 in Newton, Massachusetts, Matt LeBlanc is the elder son of Paul LeBlanc and Pat Grossman. He has a half-brother named Justin. Matt LeBlanc is a graduate of Newton North High School and was also educated in Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. His first appearances on television were that of commercials including products like Heinz, Levi's and Coca-cola.

His first television series appearance was in TV 101 and his first music video appearance was for Alanis Morisette's "Walk Away". He also appeared in Vinny and Bobby and on Married With Children. In 1994 he was cast for Friends as Joey Tribbiani and for this he earned more fame. He also earned yearly nominations from 2002 to 2004 for this role. He then received three consecutive Best Actor nominations at the Golden Globe Awards. Later on, he got his own show as a spin-off of Friends. Titled Joey, he played the title character. Joey is Italian-American and has seven female siblings. He is an actor and model and is described as the typical actor who is oversexed, undereducated and constantly looking for work.

Matt LeBlanc was married to Melissa McKnight and has a daughter with her. In 2006, however, they were formally divorced due to irreconcilable differences.

LeBlanc has also appeared on several movies. In 2000, he was cast as Jason Gibbons on the blockbuster Charlie’s Angels. He reprised this role in the 2003 sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. In 2001, he got the part of O’Rourke in the film All the King’s Men. Other credits to his name are Lookin’ Italian, Lost in Space, Ed, and The Killing Box. Since Joey’s cancellation in 2006, Matt LeBlanc decided on working on his own production company, Fort Hill Productions. Along with his partner, John Goldstone, LeBlanck has co-produced the telefilm The Prince in 2006. He has also signed on to co-produce the James Wong-directed The Watch.

Biography

Joey Tribbiani is a character from the TV comedy series Friends and its spin-off Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc. Coming from an Italian-American family of eight children where he was the only boy, he starts out as a parody of a ‘typical’ actor: constantly looking for work and having too much sex. He mentions at one point that Al Pacino is his idol. Joey also worked for a time as a model, though it turned out the poster he modeled for was about STDs. He’s fairly dim-witted, though he’s successful with women and also has a great love for food. While Friends introduces Joey and his odd group of friends living in Manhattan, his spin-off namesake series follows his continuing antics, as he moves to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.

Quotes

I really like the half-hour comedy. I really do. I know people that are in movies all the time and they, you know, they don't see their families as much. And that takes its toll over time. And I don't want to be one of those families. I want to sleep in my own bed every night. I want to, you know, help the kids with homework. And I like that. That's fun.
