Born Mary Katherine Mccormack on February 8, 1969 in Plainfield, New Jersey, Mary McCormack is an actress best known for her role in the serial drama The West Wing. Daughter of a clinical therapist and an owner of a car dealership, she attended The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison and Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, where she majored in English and painting. Her sister, Bridget, is a law professor at University of Michigan Law School, while her brother, William, is also an actor. She has been married to Michael Norris, producer of the series Brothers and Sisters since 2003, and the two have two daughters, Margaret and Rose.
McCormack's entertainment career started in theater when, at age 12, she began performing in Gian Carlo Menotti's Christmas opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors. She was technically trained at the William Esper Studio and has since appeared on many New York theater productions. In 2008, she was nominated for a Tony for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play during the play Boeing Boeing.
Her television career is just as sterling. McCoarmack has appeared on Murder One and K Street. She has also gotten roles on such films as Private Parts, Deep Impact, The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy, K-PAX, and Full Frontal.
