Born on May 12, 1978 in Stockholm, Sweden, Malin Akerman is a Canadian actress, model and singer. She attended Parliament Oak Primary School and Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School when her family moved to Canada. She has likewise studied at the North Toronto Collegiate Institute, as well as the Dante Alighieri Academy.
When she was 17, Malin Akerman won the Ford Supermodel of Canada Search, and began acting after her modeling career. She was first seen on the television series Earth: Final Conflict. She had minor roles in other series during the 2000s, such as in The Skulls, The Others, The Circle and Witchblade. She can also be seen in the TV movie Shotgun Love Dolls. Her feature film debut was in the independent film The Utopian Society, which was released in 2003. Akerman next appeared as the character Liane in 2004’s Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. Akerman has also appeared on The Showbiz Show with David Spade, and was a guest star on another HBO series Entourage. In 2007, she landed the role of Lila in the Farrelly Brothers movie The Heartbreak Kid. She was also in 2008’s 27 Dresses, also starring Katherine Heigl. She was also given roles in the films The Brothers Solomon as well as being cast as Daphne in 2007’s Heavy Petting. Akerman is also the lead singer of a rock band named Ozono, which also includes Francesco Sondelli, an editor in her film The Utopian Society. The band’s name was changed to The Petalstones when Akerman was introduced into the band.
