British actress Lucy Cohu was born in 1970 and was trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She has worked extensively on television and is known for her performance in the semi-fictional version of her life, The Queen’s Sister. The made-for-TV movie featured her as the lead, Princess Margaret, and she was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress at the BAFTA for her portrayal. She was widely praised for her role, and was soon seen in many other productions to showcase her talent.
Lucy Cohu debuted on television on a 1992 episode of the series Sam Saturday. That year, she was given a role in the short comedy Pressing Engagement, where she acted opposite Robert Beck. She was next seen on Agatha Christie’s Poirot before filming many TV productions. Cohu landed roles in The Dwelling Place, Loving and the adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca. She made appearances in Pie in the Sky in 1995, and on Ruth Rendell Mysteries. She later landed a recurring role on Peak Practice, playing the character Gina Johnson. She was next seen on Casualty, having five episodes of the drama to her credit. She later became part of the ensemble cast of Robert Altman’s highly acclaimed movie, Gosford Park, which was released in 2001. After acting on episodes of In Deep and Red Cap, Lucy Cohu got the role of Anna Winterson on the series Sweet Medicine. She was later cast in The Bill, and has been seen on several episodes of The Bombshell. In 2006, she got a part in the made-for-TV movie Coup!, a drama starring Jared Harris. Cohu’s next project was the biographical drama Becoming Jane, a portrait of Jane Austen’s life before she became famous. She was given the role of Eliza De Feuillide, enabling her to work with actors like Anne Hathaway, James McAvoy, Julie Walters, James Cromwell, and Dame Maggie Smith. Cohu soon joined the cast of Meadowlands, playing the character Evelyn Brogan. She was later seen in TV movies like Forgiven and Ballet Shoes, both in 2007.
