Linda Hart Biography:
Linda Hart is an actress and a former backup singer from Dallas, Texas. She was the first one to portray Velma Von Tussel in the Broadway production of Hairspray. Hart started singing when she was seven years old. Her father was a preacher, and she was a member of the church choir. Her family appeared in the local gospel television series, The Harts. While she was a theater major at the Los Angeles City College, Columbia records signed her family. She immediately left school and joined them in Nashville. Her family was able to release numerous gospel albums, one of which earned a Grammy award. As an individual artist, Hart has performed in various venues, which include the concerts of Hank Williams, Jr., Mel Tillis, Roy Clark, The Oak Ridge Boys and Bette Midler. In 1988, she earned a Theatre World Award for her work in the play Anything Goes. Currently, she is acting in the small screen for the comedy series, The Winner.
Irene Abbott is played by Linda Hart in the show, The Winner. Irene is the supportive, patient and loving mother of Glen Abbott. She sometimes tends to pacify her thirty-two year old son, but her devotion to her family is undeniable. Like her husband, she enjoys giving advice to Glen and is always there for him when he has a dilemma.
