Raised in a small suburb of Wilkes-Barre in Pennsylvania, Jonathan Slavin is an actor best known for his role as Byron Togler on the Fox sitcom Andy Richter Controls the Universe, alongside guest roles on My Name is Earl, Summerland, Friends, Wings, and Bones. He is a brother-in-law of David Boreanaz. Growing up, he was a very shy child who was into books and animals. He said they had dogs – not cats – because his dad is violently allergic to them. Even as a kid, he would always find hurt baby birds and rabbits. He said he used to ride his bike around the neighborhood in the small town with not a lot of traffic. His dog, whom he considers as his best friend, would follow him around. He eventually moved to Los Angeles, taking along with him two dogs, a cat, and a 35-pound pig flying with me.
Since then, Slavin has appeared in a lot of television series, including the long-running NBC medical drama ER way back in 1994, Chicago Hope, Melrose Place, Caroline in the City, Wings, NYPD Blue, Friends, CSI, Summerland, Grey’s Anatomy, Bones, My Name is Earl (five episodes), Ugly Betty, What About Brian, and Weeds. In 2009, he was cast to play Phil in the ABC comedy Better off Ted.
