Twenty-one-year-old Jesse Lewis knew he found his calling the first time he attended a tap dancing class with his sister. When he was in seventh grade, he joined Teen Mr. Dance of America. In his second year in high school, Jesse moved to New York to pursue his dream of becoming a professional dancer. He spent ten years dancing and training in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, musical theater, clogging and break dancing but his favorite among them all is hip-hop. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California and has worked in a Marques Houston music video. He also choreographed for Syieta. Jesse's other passion aside from hitting the dance floor is playing the Xbox.
For him, the highest accomplishment he has done so far is teaching dance to kids. He finds fulfillment in watching them improve with their moves. Jesse's favorite artist is pop singer, dancer and actor Justin Timberlake, whose songs are the ones that make Jesse want to get up and dance all the time.
His mother, Rebecca Lewis, is 51 years old and lives in Birmingham, Alabama.Jesse and Rebecca
Lewis are one of the ten competing pairs on the Lifetime TV reality series Your Mama Don't Dance
. Dubbed as the dance competition with a twist, contestants on the show auditioned without knowing that their dancing partners would be their very own parents. Five male contestants and five female contestants would foxtrot and mambo with their mothers and fathers as they compete to win the title and the $100,000 cash prize. Jesse says that the worst part about being partnered with someone who has never danced before is that he sometimes forgets beginners need more time to learn the steps, but the best thing about teaming up with his mom is that they work and get along really well.
