Being partial to black and white combos, Jerry Tam became known as a designer in the fifth season of Project Runway. He was one who dreamed of making it big in the city. He grew up in Butte, Montana, and has been working in the fashion industry for seven years. Jerry has had two years of education in fashion and design, and has attended both Parsons School of Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Jerry Tam has worked with Perry Ellis Women’s Wear, Imitation of Christ, and Zac Posen. This led him to found his own label, FORM, with the objective to create a comprehensive brand of clothing. He launched it in New York City in 2005, and has been inspired by intrinsic architecture. FORM uses natural fabrics, bringing a rustic feel to the designs intended for warmth and aesthetics. Jerry admits that his favorite designers are Calvin Klein, Rick Owens and Martin Margiela.
On the show, he was the first designer to be sent home. However, he continued to pursue a career in fashion as creative director of his label.
