A designer from Willows, CA, the dedicated Janeane Marie Ceccanti is actually the owner of her own label, “Janeane Marie.” At an early age, she and her twin sister had shared a passion for drawing. This led her to seek out a career in design, later completing a BFA in apparel design from the Art Institute of Portland.
Just before she gaduatedJaneane Marie Ceccanti earned a scholarship from Portland Fashion Synergy for her senior collection. She had a difficult time finding jobs after, working in restaurant after restaurant instead of pursuing her dream.
This fan of Riccardo Tisci’s work for Givenchy then decided to follow a friend’s advice and take a risk, joining a famous reality TV competition to jumpstart her career. Soon, Janeane Marie landed a spot as a contestant on the seventh season of the Project Runway, set in New York. She became known as one of the 16 designers vying for the top prize and the chance to launch their careers in the fashion industry. On the show, she was eliminated on the sixth episode. The designers were asked to create a look for children and she was unable to meet the judges’ standards. Since her departure from the series, she has continued her career and has launched several collections.
