Born on March 5, 1989 in Fort Collins, Colorado, Jacob Christopher “Jake” Lloyd is an American actor. He is the son of Lisa, an entertainment agent, and Bill, an E.M.T. set medic. He graduated from Carmel High School, Indiana in 2007 and is a film major at Columbia College Chicago.
Jake Lloyd gained worldwide fame when he played the young Anakin Skywalker in the 1999 George Lucas film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Before he achieved popularity in the film, he appeared several times in four episodes of E.R. in 1996. The role he played there was a young boy named Jimmy Sweet. That same year, he played Jake Warren in Unhook the Stars and Jamie Langston in Jingle All the Way, where he co-starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger. His performance on that film earned him a spot on television, where he appeared as Mark Armstrong in Apollo 11, as well as playing Jack in 1998’s made-for-TV thriller Host.
He also lent his voice to the Star Wars videogames, including Star Wars: Episode I – Racer, Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing and Star Wars: Racer Revenge. Jake Lloyd was also cast as the Young Angelo in the TV series The Pretender. In 2001, he played Mickey Cooper in Die With Me. The fantasy drama didn’t make it into theatres. Jake Lloyd was then given the role of Mike McCormick in Madison, a drama also starring James Caviezel. It was a box office failure released in April 2005. He also gave his first interview to MTV since his performance in Star Wars. In the interview, he stated that he had once again begun scouting for roles. His intended career revival has made him audition around Los Angeles. He also appeared in the controversial film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit…, but was only given a minor role.
