Biography

Born on October 5, 1967 in Cambridgeshire, England, Guy Edward Pearce is an English actor raised in Australia. He attended the Geelong College and moved to Blackburn North, Australia in the late 80s while filming his television debut, the Australian soap opera Neighbours in 1985. He began performing at an early age and was particularly noted for mimicking accents. He also became part of local theater productions, such as Alice in Wonderland, The King and I and The Wizard of Oz.

Guy Pearce gained popularity playing Mike Young in Neighbours, and continued his career with other series, Home and Away and Snowy River: The McGregor Saga. His first ilm appearances include the rock-star drama Heaven Tonight in 1990 and Hunting in 1991. Pearce’s breakthrough role was playing a drag queen in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in 1994. Two years later, he was given the role of Brett in Dating the Enemy, as well as Errol Flynn in Flynn. He was then cast as a detective in L.A. Confidential, and had roles in Woundings, A Slipping-Down Life and 1999’s Ravenous.

In 2000, Guy Pearce was given the role of Mark Briggs in the war drama Rules of Engagement. He is also noted for his portrayal of the character Leonard in Christopher Nolan’s Memento, where he starred opposite Carrie-Anne Moss. In 2002, he landed a role in The Count of Monte Cristo, as well as in The Time Machine. He was also cast as Charlie Burns in 2005’s The Proposition, and portrayed pop artist Andy Warhol in Factory Girl. He is also passionate about music, as he sings and plays the guitar, saxophone and piano. Some of his songs have been featured on the soundtrack of his movie Hunting in 1991. He was also seen in the Silverchair video “Across the Night,” and in Razorlight’s video of “Before I Fall to Pieces.”
