Actress Catherine Berube was born and raised in the town of Chambly, on the south shore of Montreal in Canada. At an early age, she discovered an interest in theatre, which she carried until high school. Some time later, a teacher of hers recommended that she develop an acting career. She eventually pursued her studies in the field, taking up theatre at Dawson College. In 2004, she graduated from the Professional Theatre program and used her skills in French to start her bilingual career.

She took the opportunity to perform across Quebec, New-Brunswick and Ontario and later landed in Montreal’s acting community. Berube then acted in Mainline Theater's Hedda Gabler, Johnny Canuck and the Last Burlesque. In addition to acting, she became the co-producer and artistic director for a French children’s play called Capitaine Grosnez et le Secret Précieux.

With four years of experience on stage backing her up, Berube decided to try out for television roles. She was immediately cast in small roles for two mini-series. One of these is 2005’s Human Trafficking, directed by Christian Duguay. The other is 2007’s Durham Country, where Berube was given the role of Julia Travis. She also had a bit part as a waitress on an episode of Naked Josh. Eventually, she was chosen to portray the character Brigitte on the ABC Family series Sophie. Her character is one of the protagonist’s best friends, sometimes serving as her right hand in everything that comes their way. Berube has also starred in SRC’s Pendant ce temps devant la télé, and the movie La vie secrète des gens heureux, directed by Stephanie Lapointe.
