Born in December 3, 1968 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Brendan Frasher is an actor known for his performances in The Mummy films, Crash, and George of the Jungle. His parents, a journalist and a sales counselor, are both Canadian-American. Growing up, his family moved often, from Eureka, California, then Seattle, Ottawa, The Netherlands, and even Switzerland. He attended Upper Canada College, a private boys’ boarding school in Toronto. He graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle in 1990. He then began acting at a small acting college in New York. Initially planning to move to Texas to go to graduate school, he stopped in Hollywood and decided to pursue professional acting.
Fraser’s debut film appearance was a cameo in America’s Most Wanted Reenactment. Since then, he has had over 30 movie credits to his name, his first lead coming in the movie Encino Man in 1992. The same year, he starred opposite Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Chris O’Donnell in School Ties and later in the Adam Sandler comedy Airheads. His other screen credits, mostly in supporting roles, include, The Passion of Darkly Noon and The Twilight of the Golds.
In 1997, Brendan Fraser started landing lead roles, first in the comedy George of Jungle. This was to be followed by performances in Blast from the Past, Bedazzled, Monkeybone, and a memorable dramatic role in Gods and Monsters opposite Ian McKellen. What would be his most successful project, however, is the 1999 adventure comedy film The Mummy and the 2001 sequel The Mummy Returns. The two were both huge box office hits. His other endeavors include guest appearances in shows such as Scrubs, King of the Hill, and The Simpsons. In 2001, he also starred in the West End Production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. In 2006, he became the first American-born actor to have a star in Canada’s Walk of Fame.
