Big Boy appears as one of the judges on the MTV reality television competition series Celebrity Rap Superstar. He is an American radio host who was born in Chicago, and is most commonly known by his stage name “Big Boy,” which was derived from his extreme weight and bulk in the past. He slimmed down and lost over 250 pounds after undergoing duodenal switch surgery. Though he was born in Chicago, he moved to Los Angeles when he was two years old, and eventually got involved with the music industry as he worked for a DJ at Culver City high school parties.
At one point he also found employment as a bodyguard for the music group Pharcyde, and was good friends with the Baka Boyz, who were morning show hosts at the KPWR Power 106 radio station in Los Angeles. With his joking and fun demeanor, he was soon offered a job as a show host for the station, and performed well during afternoon and nighttime segments. He became infamous throughout the greater Los Angeles area in the late 1990s, when Power 106 had his nearly nude image shown on numerous billboards, back when he weighed more than 500 pounds.
