Biography

Born on July 26, 1975 in Edmonton, Alberta, Ben Cotton is a Canadian actor who is best known for his role as the scientist Dr. Kavanagh on Stargate Atlantis. Cotton first appeared on TV in 1999, scoring minor roles on The Wonder Cabinet, Strange World, Beggars and Choosers, First Wave, and The Immortal before landing his first movie role as an FBI Agent in Deadly Little Secrets. He continued to find steady work and lingered on the small screen with a bunch of guest roles on Tru Calling, Smallville, Cold Squad, Dark Angel, Taken, John Doe, Peacemakers, The 4400, and Whistler. He also worked in films such as The Day the Earth Stood Still, Messages Deleted, Edison and Leo, and That One Night, just to name a few. In 2009, Cotton was cast as Shane Pierce on Harper’s Island, a CBS series about a group of family and friends who travel for a destination wedding to an island famous for a streak of unsolved murders.
