Amanda Williams became known for being one of the contestants on the Bravo reality series Work of Art: The Next Great Artist. She was the first one eliminated from the competition.
This Cornell University graduate has practiced architecture for years until she realized that her passion lay in painting. Her works combine color and text, using fragments of conversations she has heard. Since developing her style, she has sold her pieces in a number of galleries and has put up exhibits throughout the country. She has presented work in : the Studio Museum in Harlem, YBCA in San Francisco and DePaul University’s Art Museum in Chicago. She has also received several awards, including Hennessy Cognac’s Emerging Artist Award. When she isn't busy painting, she teaches at Illinois Institute of Technology and the California College of the Arts. Since leaving, she has set up a two-person show at the Swarm Gallery and continued to pursue her career in art.
