Biography

Born on November 8, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, acterss Alfre Woodard became interested in show business as a child. A track star and cheerleader in high school, she was persuaded by a nun in her school to audition for a play and she got the part. Since then, she pursued that passion and studied at Boston University. She also appeared on Broadway for a while, then moved to Los Angeles to look for more roles.

Since then, Alfre Woodard has appeared in shows like Memphis Beat, True Blood, St. Elsewhere, The Practice and Desperate Housewives. Other credits of hers include films like Grand Canyon, Passion Fish, Follow Me Home, Primal Fear and Star Trek: First Contact.
