American actress and comedian Abby Elliott was born on June 16, 1987. She is the daughter of Chris Elliott, who was a cast member of Saturday Night Live’s 1994-1995 season. In addition, her grandfather is veteran comic Bob Elliott from the “Bob and Ray Show,” also featured on the show’s fourth season back in the 1970s. Seeing that performing was in her blood, Abby became the third generation of her family to appear on Saturday Night Live. She joined at the age of 21, making her the youngest female cast member on the series. Overall, she is the fourth youngest, following Anthony Michael Hall, Eddie Murphy and Robert Downey Jr.
Before her debut on the hit sketch comedy show, Abby Elliott worked at the Los Angeles Groundling’s Theater. There she met her current Saturday Night Live cast-mate, Michaela Watkins. Elliott later took on small roles, earning a spot on the semi-autobiographical comedy starring her father, You’ve Reached the Elliotts. In 2006, she lent her voice to a computer on Minoriteam and soon went back to acting. She was seen the next year in Chrissy: Plain & Simple. In 2008, she took on a turn as a guest by voicing a hipster girl in the animated series King of the Hill. She worked on two episodes, namely “Lady and Gentrification” and “Six Characters in Search of a House.”
Later that year, Abby Elliot rose to popularity for her celebrity impersonations on Saturday Night Live. She has been seen playing Angelina Jolie, Joan Cusack, Jamie Lynn Spears and Rachel Maddow. She has been seen on sketches parodying Jolie’s maternal insatiability, and was even praised for it. Elliott has also portrayed Chloe Sevigny’s character on the HBO drama Big Love, Nicolette Grant.
Due to her success, she has been slated for a role in Mike Judge’s animated series known as The Goode Family.
- She and fellow 'SNL' cast member Fred Armisen have been in a relationship since since September 2009.
- Her parents are Paula Niedert Elliott and former 'SNL' cast member Chris Elliott. Her grandfather is Bob Elliott, making her a third-generation performer.
