Jonas Brothers Count Their 2008 Blessings, NYPD Fears 'Mob Scene' on New Year's

December 30, 2008

If your New Year's resolution last year was to live under a rock, you might not know about the Jonas Brothers. Even if you resolved to spend the year in a mountain cave, now and then you'd still be able to hear the synchronized, high-pitched screams of adolescent girls in every surrounding metropolitan area. And, at that point, you'd start to wonder, like the rest of the world did at the beginning of 2008, what all this Jonas excitement is about.

In 2008, at every turn, the Jonas Brothers answered, showing us exactly why they've grown from Disney stars with a small but devoted fan base into the biggest teen group in a generation, complete with sold-out stadium shows, #1 albums, hit movies and TV shows. In 2007, the Jonas Brothers was a band. In 2008, Jonas Brothers is a brand, with worldwide appeal. But if you think they take a bit of it for granted—well, you really are under a rock, aren't you?

Grammy Nominations Announced - Jonas Brothers, Colbert, Conchords Receive Nods

December 4, 2008

The 2008 Grammy nominations were announced earlier today, and there are some names among the nominees who TV fans will likely be familiar.  The 51st edition of the Grammys will take place on Sunday, February 9 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  The program will air on CBS.  Though the Grammys have recently been criticized for not embracing more modern music in its prestigious categories, this year's nominees belie a transition into more modern fare.  For instance, hip hop artist Lil' Wayne received the most nominations this year with eight.  For TV fans, The Jonas Brothers (Camp Rock) were nominated in the Best New Artist category, Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report) was nominated for Best Spoken Word Album, and Flight of the Conchords were nominated for Best Comedy Album with their self-titled debut.
