Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney Spears' younger sister and star of Nickelodeon's Zoey 101, is determined to hit the books as she heads back to school.  The 16-year-old actress, who recently revealed she was pregnant, has reportedly expressed interest in attending Louisiana State University.

"I haven't thought anything about what I might study," Spears said.  "I'll have to look more into that.  But if I went anywhere, I think it would be fun to go to LSU."

Spears' back-to-school news ignited even more as she was spotted with mom Lynne leaving the Tangipahoa Parish School System Adult Education Centre in Hammond, Louisiana just last Friday carrying a study guide for the General Educational Development (GED) test, which is used to gain a high school equivalency degree.

The teen star previously attended the prestigious Parklane Academy in McComb, Mississippi, where she was a cheerleader and was involved in other sports.  She studied off and on for years, depending on her filming schedule on Zoey 101.  A school staff member claimed Spears enrolled at the school full-time in November, saying she had finished filming.  But after Thanksgiving, Jamie said she was needed back in Los Angeles.

"If Jamie had tried to stay, she would most probably have been expelled for being pregnant," a source told People magazine.

A spokesman for Parklane Academy refused to comment.

Meanwhile, the news about Spears pregnancy turned out to be a big boon for Nickelodeon in terms of ratings.  Last Friday's third season finale of Zoey 101, which stars Spears as the lead character Zoey Brookes, garnered 7.3 million viewers, which is more than double the show's normal viewership.

There is no word yet on when the fourth and final season of Zoey 101 will air specifically, though the network has already confirmed that it will air sometime in February.
