Good news for people who love art and pretention: Bravo's brilliant reality competition Work of Art: The Next Great Artist
will return for season 2 starting Wednesday, October 12 at 9pm.
Work of Art
, executive produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, is a
wonderfully entertaining competition as up-and-coming artists are given
strange tasks and are required to create new pieces of art every week in
timed challenges. The basic concept of trying to put a time limit on
creativity might seem absurd, but the result is anything but.
The winner of Work of Art
season 2 will once again receive $100,000. The show is hosted by British model Chima Chow. Also returning from season 1 are judges Bill Powers (a gallery owner in New York) and Jerry Saltz (art critic), as well as mentor and fancypants auction house chairman Simone de Pury.
The contestants for Work of Art
season 2 range in age from 24 to 41, which is a more compressed and even field than last season which featured a 61-year-old woman and a 22-year-old (Abdi Farah, who was the winner). While most of the contestants are from New York, there are some from France and Malaysia.
And there's a Sucklord. Yes, one of the contestants on Work of Art
season 2 goes by the name Sucklord, which means people who watch will get to hear refined art critics repeatedly saying things like "I love the balance of color in Sucklord's piece."
