Peter Facinelli Raring to be Carlisle Cullen Again

Another benefactor of the suddenly-famous-after-Twilight effect?  Peter Facinelli, who starred as vampire slash physician Carlisle Cullen.  He’s been around for quite a while, really, but only now has he received that frantic fame, and an iconic character than people (or at least fans) can associate with him to boot.

He was able to watch the film with his family, and as expected, the reaction was overwhelming.  “That’s the great thing about going with my family—they are on Team Carlisle,” he quipped.  He gets the same reaction with his co-stars and fans: “I had a drink with Rob[ert Pattinson] on Saturday, and he’s quite happy,” he said. “I think the cast is very excited to go back and shoot more.  Every time I meet a fan from Twilight, it’s meaningful, humbling, overwhelming—it’s wonderful.  I’m just glad to be a part of it.”

And, of course, he has to deal with the people who aren’t really fond of Twilight.  (You call them haters.  Admit it, although that sounds harsh.)  “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” he said.  “Some movies are for certain groups and not for others.  I’d suggest they get in touch with their inner 15-year-old girl … I hope this weekend we get boys to go see it, because it got both—it’s got action, and it’s got a love story.  If you’re a guy, the best place to be this weekend is in the movie theater with all those girls, watching Twilight.”

He is excited, like most of us, about the pending release of the second film, New Moon.  “If the fans wanted more, we were going to make more, and I think I read it somewhere on Sunday that the movie did well and we were making more … I’m just waiting for a script right now; I know what the book is, but I don't know how much is going to be different from the book.  So, I’m just waiting to see what the script is like.”

But they have a start date for the shoot: “I think early next spring.”
