Finally, something interesting is in store for Nelsan Ellis, who plays flamboyant gay short order cook Lafayette Reynold on HBO's
True Blood.
Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello has already hinted before that the show is looking for a hot Latino actor to play a love interest for the adorable blood dealer, and now, the
Hollywood Reporter has revealed who's filling in the Lafayette's boyfriend's shoes.
Warning: Minor spoilers ahead.The recurring role has reportedly gone to Kevin Alejandro, who was featured on the ABC series
Ugly Betty as Santos, the father of Justin Suarez and love interest of Hilda, and was cast as Detective Nate Moretta on
Southland, which was canceled by NBC just to weeks prior to the premiere of the show's sophomore season but has since been picked up by cable network TNT.
On the third season of
True Blood, Alejandro will play Jesus Velasquez, a good-natured Latino who's caring for Lafayette's mother, Ruby Jean Reynolds, played by Alfre Woodard, at her care facility and becomes involved with her son. He's expected to appear in almost every episode of the upcoming season.
Alejandro, who is also credited for his role on
Weeds and
Shark, is the latest actor to join the cast of
