He earned his architecture degree at Carnegie Mellon and his master's degree from Yale. After his graduation, renowned architect Robert A. M. Stern personally chose Amornvivat to work for him. It was during this stage that Amornvivat participated on the design and construction of the International Quilt Study Center in Nebraska.
