Top Chef 5: "Gail's Bridal Shower" Predictions
Share This Share this
This week on Top Chef 5, the chefs will be making the dishes for the bridal shower of none other than Top Chef judge Gail Simmons. It's not quite as high pressure as a wedding, sure, but the added tension of trying to please a bride-to-be who will have your fate in her hands throughout the rest of the competition will surely be a little nerve-wracking for the chefs. Who will do well and who could be eliminated this week?

Jamie Lauren had a misstep last week, but her skills have otherwise been very strong, so I don't think we will see her back in the bottom this week. She does seem to be a bit grumpy at times, so if the challenge involves any front-of-house work, she'll need to try to put on the charm.

Same with Stefan Richter, he's got the skills, but he can be a little dour, and so if any part of the competition involves interacting with the guests, he'll need to lighten up.

Previews already show Fabio Viviani charming the ladies; is anyone surprised? His performance has been erratic – highs and lows – so let's hope he doesn't get too cocky around all that estrogen.

As to the potential weak chefs: Melissa Harrison still hasn't distinguished herself in a positive way, only gaining screen time for her too-spicy shrimp. Carla Hall has made some tasty food, but her only screen time last time seemed to focus on her being a bundle of nerves. Danny Gagnon has had some decent food, but his food has also been singled out as being among the worst a couple of times too on Top Chef 5.

Those three I'd have my eye on as being most likely to falter this week. As to the rest - Eugene Villiatora, Hosea Rosenberg, Leah Cohen, Ariane Duarte and Jeff McInnis – have shown some strong talent even if they have faltered, so they seem like they might be able to stay in a little longer..

What do you think?
