Tim Gunn's Guide to Style was a welcome addition to the “Watch What Happens” Bravo line-up during the long build-up to the new season of
Project Runway. While it might not be quite the same as watching several designers duke it out on the runway, it at least gave us the chance to hear the soothing deep voice of
Tim Gunn in the interim.
However, now Tim Gunn fans will have to console themselves with re-runs because the show is on hiatus until at least November 8.
Bonita Lynch from Bravo told yle was a welcome addition to the “Watch What Happens” Bravo line-up dur
, "We're not sure yet when exactly remaining Guide to Style episodes will air, but it will return as a compliment to Project Runway." Blogging
Project Runway thinks this might mean sometime around November 15.
It appears that
Tim Gunn's Guide to Style hasn't been quite the hit that Bravo might have anticipated. Blogging
Project Runway wonders if the show is being re-tooled due to the lukewarm reception.
That site is a major destination for
Project Runway fans – the target audience for
Tim Gunn's Guide to Style – but in a poll they took in mid-September, most of the responders noted that they were primarily watching to see the new
Project Runway designers or a guest spot from previous season designer
Laura Bennett. Twenty-seven percent of the responders weren't even going to watch at all, saying they would just wait until
Project Runway.
As a fan of make-over shows and
Project Runway in general and Tim Gunn in particular, I, too, found myself underwhelmed by
Tim Gunn's Guide to Style. I have felt that much of his advice has already been covered endlessly by
What Not to Wear, and after a while, the repetition of “Find what works for your body and personal style, make sure it fits well, get tailoring and be age- and event-appropriate” ceases to become adequately illuminating enough to maintain an entire show.
However, even if fans have been initially a little bored by the show, there's no doubt that Tim has engendered enough good will with his loyal fans that they will be happy to give the show another shot if it has been re-tooled.
