The Young and the Restless: January 15 Live Thoughts
The Young and the Restless: January 15 Live Thoughts
It's back to the hospital on today's The Young and the Restless.  JT (Thad Luckinbill) got a call yesterday from the hospital with news that Reed's condition has changed.  Today's The Young and the Restless reveals that it's a good change: Reed is now permanently off the ventilator.  Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and David (Vincent Irizarry) show up, followed by Victor (Eric Braeden).  All are pleased by the good news, but things get tense when Nikki goes into Reed's room, leaving Victor and David outside glaring at each other.

Jack (Peter Bergman) and Sharon (Sharon Case) are having an early dinner at the club before Sharon leaves for Chicago.  Jack can't join her because he has a meeting with his lawyer and Gloria's lawyer to discuss his father's will.  Sharon is pleased to hear this.

Daniel (Michael Graziadei) is looking for jobs at the coffeehouse.  Katherine (Jeanne Cooper), Jill (Jess Walton) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) come in to have coffee and Amber (Adrienne Frantz) perkily asks if there is any news on who will win the Faces of Jabot contest.  Jill barely gives her the time of day, but Katherine says that Amber is a resourceful young woman.

Nikki talks to Reed, and I believe this is the first time we've seen the little tyke.  He actually looks like a newborn--usually TV newborns are magically able to lift their heads and crawl around immediately after being ejected from the womb.  Out in the hallway, David wants to talk to Victor about Nikki's frozen assets.  Victor just barks at him to stay the hell away.

At the coffeehouse, a boisterous and loud party chases the Chancellors away to the back room.  Daniel tells Amber that it is because Amber is staring at Cane.

Nikki tells David that she wants to deal with Victor alone.  Victor wants her to drop the lawsuit.  She'll do it only if he forgives her loan.  He'll forgive her loan if she breaks up with David.  They are at an impasse.

Jack and Sharon run into Brad (Don Diamont) at the club.  Brad wishes Sharon a safe and successful trip, but if you remember from before, he's planning to go to Chicago on a later flight too.  Colleen (Tammin Sursok) walks by and knows that Brad is upset that Jack's public humiliation didn't break up his marriage to Sharon.

Heather (Vail Bloom) walks into the coffeehouse to look for the sunglasses that she left earlier.  Daniel retrieves them from the lost and found.  Heather thanks him for cheering her up and making her laugh.  He asks her to see the new band at Indigo tomorrow night, but she says no because she has too much work to do.  He takes it all in stride.  After Heather leaves, Amber advises Daniel that he's trying too hard.

The Chancellors have moved into the back room of the coffeehouse.  The ladies give their motherly and grandmotherly advice to Cane to remain balanced with his work life and his personal life.

David and Nikki are home from the hospital now, and he tells her that he knows Victor will erase her debt if they break up.

Adrian (Eyal Podell) drops in at the club to visit Colleen.  He exposits that his leg is almost back to full strength.  He wants to do something fun.  The club manager gives Colleen a fax to give to Brad.  She's disappointed to find out that it's a flight itinerary, which proves that he is following Sharon to Chicago.

Nikki and David fight about Victor.  Nikki doesn't want to back down and accept Victor's conditions.

Sharon is almost ready to leave on her trip, and Jack gives her a book for the plane.  Her limo shows up, and she gives him a kiss before stepping out of the door.  Without her coat on.  In Wisconsin.  In January.  After she leaves, John Abbott's (Jerry Douglas) ghost shows up and expresses surprise that Jack actually let her go.  Jack isn't surprised to see him and makes snide comments.  Then Jack tells him about his idea to start a foundation in John's name and have Sharon run it.  John asks him what his motives are because he suspects that Jack might just be doing this to keep Sharon on a short leash.

Colleen confronts Brad about his itinerary and scolds him that he's making a big mistake.  But Brad won't listen.

Cane suggests that he, Katherine and Jill take a family vacation together.  He wants to take them to the Australian outback.  They love the idea, and stand up to leave, but Katherine gets dizzy as she stands up.

Colleen confides in Adrian about Brad.  Adrian says that love is messy.

Heather has a meeting with a man named Dennis, who appears to be her boss.  He wants her to win Victor's case with a slamdunk.  She tells him about all of the work she's done, but he says that it's all circumstantial  He wants her to find a witness, and insists that she win the case.  There's no room for failure.  After their meeting is over, Heather runs into Victor.  He tells her that she's committing career suicide if she pursues her case against him.  He's very threatening.

At the coffeehouse, she calls Kevin to ask him to snoop around Jabot to find out if Maryna is still in the running for the contest.  Cane appears right behind her and overhears her conversation.  Cane asks about Maryna.  Amber asks pointedly whether Lily Winters is Cane's pick to win, but he doesn't bother answering her.

Nikki asks David to move in with her, and agrees to marry him.

Colleen shows up at Jack's door, looking all conflicted.  They sit down, and she asks him to listen to her with an open-mind.  She tells him that Brad is following Sharon to Chicago, and Jack looks stricken.  Meanwhile, Sharon is settling into her hotel room when she gets a knock at the door.  Duh, it's Brad.

Next on The Young and the Restless: Sharon and Jack talk on the phone, Victor fires Nick.
