The Young and the Restless: Chloe Tries to Spin Her Lies

the young and the restlessElizabeth Hendrickson has been in a recurring role on The Young and the Restless since February but her character was recently upgraded as she was thrust into a front burner storyline with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard), not to mention the revelation that she was actually the daughter of longtime character Esther Valentine (Kate Linder), the maid at the Chancellor mansion.

"It's true," Hendrickson told the New York Daily News of her character's shocking storyline that aired late August.  "Chloe is really Kate, Esther's daughter.  She hasn't seen Esther this whole time, and has never been to the Chancellor mansion.  [Cane's mother] Jill was going to throw them an engagement party, but Chloe got out of that by saying, 'Let's elope.'"

Ever since she arrived in Genoa City, Chloe changed her name and has been covering up her parentage the whole time.  Of course, she got busted since she just got married to Cane, the rich grandson of Esther's boss, Katherine (Jeanne Cooper).

Despite all the lies, Hendrickson reveals that her character's defense is the truth: Chloe came to Genoa to start a new life and to be on her own and that she didn't tell Cane because she was afraid he would think that she was going after him for his money.  On the other hand, there's no denying that there's also some scheming involved, especially when it comes to getting the man she loves.

"OK, that was definitely plotting," the Young and the Restless actress said of Chloe getting pregnant by Cane when he was drunk and trapping him into marriage.  "But not because of who he is.  She just wanted him."

And so the deception continues.  Hendrickson, however, remains tightlipped about the paternity of her father's baby.

"That I cannot confirm," the Young and the Restless actress said.
