VIDEO: 'The X Factor' Teases Good, Bad, Ugly and Epic Auditions in New 8 Minute Extended Preview
Monday, September 12, 2011
The X Factor premieres in just a couple short weeks (on September 21, to be exact) and in this new extended preview of the auditions stage, FOX wants to make sure you know just how high the stakes are: Not just for the contestants, who must show off their singing talents in front of the intimidating judging panel, but for the judges, the network and the sponsors, who are putting it all on the line to discover America's next great pop star. (Is that the Requiem for a Dream music I hear in the background of this promo? E-P-I-C.)
At least, that's the end goal. Along the way, what with Simon Cowell being Simon Cowell, The X Factor will also be about discovering new ways for him to insult bad, offensive and offensively bad singers. And delighting and shocking the talented ones with his praise -- like adorable young Rachel and sexy single mom Stacy, whose auditions we can sneak a peek at in this promo. If Simon says, "I think we're going to be hearing a lot about you," then you can bet we'll be hearing more about them as The X Factor goes on.

Did you catch Simon's dig at The Voice in there? "It's more than just a voice. It's something else." We should probably expect more of those subtle little British zingers, at NBC's series and that other FOX singing show he used to be on, as the season goes on. When Simon's not sitting speechless listening to the talent before him, that is.
