As a special refresher ahead of the show's season 2 premiere, The Walking Dead co-executive producer Greg Nicotero is taking online fans back in time in his new webisode series, released on AMC's website today.

The webisodes follow the backstory of Hannah, though most Walking Dead fans know her as "Bicycle Girl," the half-eaten, fully-dead zombie (technically, she's a "walker," but really she's more of a "crawler") who reaches toward Rick Grimes in the park as he steals a bike after escaping the hospital in the series premiere. The scene was brief, but the image stayed with many fans (thanks to the amazing Walking Dead makeup artists, whom you can watch work their magic on Bicycle Girl here).

Now Nicotero is giving us a glimpse of this poor woman's back story. "Fans will learn about Hannah's life before the apocalypse, her struggle to survive and protect her family as the world begins to fall apart, and her ultimate demise into zombie-hood," said AMC in a press release.

Why watch? Well, watching Hannah struggle (and, no spoiler alert necessary, ultimately fail) to protect herself and her family from becoming walkers may add a new dimension to your Walking Dead viewing when the series returns to AMC October 16. Every walker used to be a person with a life and a family. Remember that as you watch Grimes exterminate swarms of them like they're big, flesh-eating locusts this season.

The entire, six-part webisode series, ending with the cheerfully titled "Everything Dies," is available on AMC's website.
