Jeremy, Elena's younger brother, has gone through a lot of things on The Vampire Diaries' first half of the season alone. After losing his parents, he became a destructive kid with drug addiction issues and struggled to settle into a new domestic situation under their Aunt Jenna's roof. He also experienced the tragic loss of his vampire girlfriend Vicky when Stefan put a steak through her heart. Thanks to Damon's special vampire powers that allowed him to take away Jeremy's suffering, Jeremy doesn't remember a thing about his girlfriend's death. But considering that things don't always go as planned in Mystic Falls, you can bet that there's a clever little twist behind all this.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!!!
Steven R. McQueen, who plays Jeremy on The Vampire Diaries
, tells MTV's Hollywood Crush
that it's not exactly clear what Damon did to his character. "That's something that's going to unfold itself a little later in the series," Steven reveals. "[Damon] did erase my pain and my grief and such, but I'm not sure what I can reveal of just how much he shut out of my memory -- and if he put anything in there."
For now though, Jeremy will be on a quest to discover little town secrets on his own when The Vampire Diaries
returns with new episodes beginning January 21. "Now that he's no longer focusing on the death of his parents ...he starts to work more at his full potential. He was rebelling against the world, trying to fight everyone at every twist and turn. Now he's trying to fit in and become a little less of a social rebel," he says.
Sounds like Jeremy's future will be complicated as ever. It's a good thing love might be in the cards now that the show has cast a possible love interest for him. "It's this lovely actress Malese Jow who's coming to the show," Steven says. "She's very talented; she's very sweet; and I know the audience will fall in love with her, just like I secretly did a little bit."
